FACIAL WAXING

WHAT KINDS OF WAXING SERVICES DOES FACIAL WAXING INCLUDE?

Factors beyond our control like genetics and hormones play a big role in how much facial hair we have. This means that some of us are more likely to have to deal with it from puberty – if your mother has facial hair then you probably have it too. The good news is that facial waxing provides a quick and maintenance free solution so you can be stress-free (and hair free). There are pros and cons to everything, including waxing. If you have sensitive skin, you may be prone to post-waxing breakouts. To prevent this, we recommend applying a fine film of talc powder to the area before hair removal and cortisone cream after, which works as an anti-inflammatory and reduces redness.

Among our full facial waxing services, we also offer the following:

Chin Waxing – The great thing about waxing is that, when it is done correctly, it pulls the hair out from the root and leaves you skin smooth and hair-free for up to a month. The hair on your chin can vary in length though. The longer hairs will be easier to pull out, while the shorter hairs (shorter than 1/4″) can lead to the breaking of hairs. Our experienced estheticians will effectively pull the hair out of the skin from the root so it doesn’t break. If there are fine, short hairs that are left behind, you can request that our professionals tweeze them.

Eyebrow Waxing – Every gal needs a great pair of arches! Eyebrows are a standout beauty feature now more than ever (thanks to Cara Delevingne). A good brow shape is one of the easiest ways to get an instant pick-me-up. Our aestheticians are experts in the artistry of hair removal and work according to your face shape for a (virtually) painless waxing.

Nose Waxing – Waxing nose hairs? Ouch! Though you may be thinking that waxing these delicate hairs is the last thing that you want to do, give it a second thought. Those annoying nose hairs and those tears (from tweezing) can be removed with a simple and quick nose hair waxing. Some people just get the outer portion of the nose waxed which is much safer and less invasive than getting what others choose- the inside of their nose waxed. But if you have less-than-appealing hair peeking out, then we recommend waxing the inside of the nose. Inside nose hair waxing consists of coating a thin wood stick with wax and then placing it slightly in the nostril and letting it stay there.

Upper Lip Waxing – If you experience a noticeable peach fuzz, then you know that a decision must be made soon. Should you wax? While upper lip waxing might sound easy enough to do at home, this sensitive skin are requires the expertise of an esthetician in order to get the best results. To ensure a successful wax without post-irritation or infection, clean skin is crucial. Ask your esthetician to apply a pre-wax cleanser and oil directly to your skin before proceeding to remove the hair with the hot wax.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR WAXING APPOINTMENT:

  • Do not remove any hair from your arm for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment. For optimal results, it’s best that the hair is at least 1/4″ long.

  • Exfoliate your face before your appointment. We recommend an All-Natural Exfoliating Loofah, which helps to prevent and lift out ingrown hairs to give you a smoother result.

  • If you are on any medication, including topical treatments such as Retin-A and Differin, you must notify The Wax Shop before you make your appointment. These medications make skin more sensitive and prone to tears and peeling. Oral medications like Accutane and many antibiotics can also make your skin hypersensitive.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW AFTER YOUR WAXING APPOINTMENT:

  • When you tear out hair and pull at your skin with wax, there’s a chance you will wind up with a little irritation. Some people are red for a few minutes, while some are red for 12 hours.

  • Redness is completely normal! Any redness will subside after a couple of days.

  • If you’re noticing little pimples or pus-filled bumps around the waxed area, you could be experiencing folliculitis, which is an inflammation of the hair follicles. If this is the case, we advise heading straight back to The Wax Shop or your dermatologist.

  • Hair grows on a 28 day cycle. The Wax Shop recommends that you make your waxing appointments no more than 4 weeks apart.
